Snowy
Finally some decent snow.
I would suggest staying inside nice and warm. That's where I'd prefer to be, but alas I work this weekend, and hospitals don't close for mini midwestern blizzards.
So, then I would say the best part about driving on a snow covered road is that there are no lines and as long as you're on your side of the road anywhere is fair game. If there does happen to be some one else on the street (which happened rarely at midnight and not at all on my way home from a bachelorette party at 2am) I suggest driving in their tire grooves.
All of that said, I'm so glad that I have a decent car. My old car would have never made it out of the driveway..
Something Good
I did something good this weekend and it only took an hour and a half. I was invited to an event for Feed My Starving Children on Saturday. It's an organization that packages food to go to impoverished countries. You can check out their website for all of the details about their mission here.
Anyway, in under two hours less than fifty people managed to package and make seventy - five boxes worth of food. The organizers said that it's enough food to feed forty - four children for a year!!! I think that's pretty impressive. Plus the church where it was held was going to have another session today. I'm sure they can box at least as much as we did yesterday. That's nearly one hundred children that get to eat this year. So I'm glad that I got off my lazy butt this weekend and I feel kinda good about what I helped to accomplish. My friends do come up with crazy ideas for ways to spend our weekend, but I'm glad that we got involved in this project. We can always have game night next week :)
Wisdom Teeth
So finally after say 5-6 years of the dentist saying "You need to get your wisdom teeth taken out." I finally acted like an adult about it. First I put it off for another month. (What's one more month anyway!) Then I made an appointment. Yikes!
Wednesday my four super awesome wisdom teeth were pulled out. Thank goodness the anesthesia didn't make me sick. That's pretty much what I was most afraid of I think. While my brother was miserable for days after having his teeth taken out. I was feeling pretty hunky-dorey by yesterday. I mean where my lower teeth used to be hurts and my jaw hurts a bit, but I'm not about to waste three days of vacation from work. Also I happen to like eating nothing but mashed potatoes and milkshakes. Really I'm just glad that it's all over now, and someday soon I'll get to eat solid food again and be allowed to drink through a straw.
LaDeDah
Thought I'd work on keeping my blog alive by giving a plug to the church Nathan and I have been going to for a few months.
They're called Meadowbrook Christian Church and you can find us Sunday mornings at 10:30 that the Riverchase Community Center thing in Fenton. They're a church that is small and just starting out, but the people are very friendly. The worship services aren't focused on bashing principles but on creating discussion and understanding through teaching scripture and your own self discovery.
The free doughnuts and bagels don't hurt either. :)
If you're interested in visiting with us let me know or you can also check them out at www.mymeadowbrookchristian.com
Don't know what to say
After 28 years of being married, my parents divorce was final on Friday.
My dad just desided that he didn't want to be married anymore. (Mid life crisis anyone?)
My mom is devestated but surviving day by day. It's all been kind of a shock.
I haven't really figured out how to deal with it yet, but my brother and I seem to be hanging in there okay.
Who knew that when you don't fight over things that a divorce could be final in a matter of weeks.
I just hope my parents end up happier in the long run.
Anyone Out There
Hello??
Hello....
I know I've been gone for a while.
Nathan and I adopted a 4 month old puppy 2 weeks ago. Her names Molly. She's an adorable german shepard mix, but she's started teething and loosing her puppy teeth. Just when we were starting to let our guard down. Ah well. I'm pretty sure the bath mat she chewed up is still useable. Luckily she chewed the back side of it.
You should come over and visit Molly. I miss seeing you too.
Hope someone is still out there.
Bored Already?
I've only held down a real job for 6 months and already I'm bored with it. It's just too repetative, and when things go wrong, almost once every day, there are very few people with the initiative to stray away from there area to help so things can run almost smoothly while switching to backup instruments. Which can insure that I get to eat dinner sometime before the cafeteria closes. Unfortunatly that is driving the huge Med. Tech. shortage. There are very few people graduating more people retiring and the people there now are frustrated and leaving the field of actual in the lab work because of boredom and controlled chaos.
It is actually possible to have boredom and controlled chaos at the same time. It's probably from getting used to chaos and coming to expect it. I don't know what to do. I mean I have to stick it out for at least a while. I'm not really qualified for a different position like a sales rep. or a technical service rep. because I don't have enough experience. So I guess you'll see me on evening shift being a little spiteful because I never see my husband, but have no hope of anything better for the next 3-5 years.
Oh thanks to the person who commented on my blog a few days ago even though it was on an entry from over 2 years ago. It's nice to know that my blogging still has a vague purpose.
Praying?
This entry was going to be about the new car that I bought... Ok, The new car that I bought almost 2 months ago. But something much more important is going on in my hometown over the last few days.
It can be summed up by this news article:
http://www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=107401
And by these words by my peers:
For anyone and everyone. We all love Officer Jon Brough so why not let everyone know we are praying for him!
**Pray for the officer that would pull us over and let us go with a warning because he knew, somehow he knew us
**Pray for the officer who taught us drugs were bad in 6th grade and then "busted" us at parties only a few years later
**Pray for the officer who is the dad of two boys that we all know and love...
**Pray for Officer JON BROUGH!
-I'm not all that big on praying, but I figure it's better than nothing.
